Kiffin joins Oklahoma defensive coordinator Brent Venables, who have apparently both interviewed with the Tigers, with Will Muschamp and Bobby Johnson also being thrown around in the conversation. Low continues to report that the Vols have been in contact with Kiffin's people.

So why no love for Chris Peterson out at Boise?
I was behind him as one of the top candidates early in the process, but then someone made this point somewhere:
Dirk Koetter - Boise State
Three years, 26-10
Dirk Koetter - Arizona State
Six years, 40-34, 21-28 vs. Pac-10
Dan Hawkins - Boise State
Five years, 53-11
Dan Hawkins - Colorado
In third year, 12-21
Chris Petersen is 32-3 in his third year in Boise...but clearly there's no guarantee with success in the WAC turning into success anywhere else, let alone the SEC.
And bonus: Petersen is a scientologist. Cause that would play real well in East Tennessee.
